China Silicon Valley was formally launched on June 25

China Silicon Valley was formally launched on June 25, 2013 at San Jose City Hall. More than 300 guests came to the celebration and connected with mayors, council members, business leaders and company representatives from both China and the Silicon Valley.

The co-presidents of China Silicon Valley, Stephanie Xu and Victor Wang, and board member Fred Greguras spoke at the celebration. Stephanie and Fred warmly welcomed the guests and thanked members, business partners and volunteers for all of their support. Victor’s keynote speech described the organization’s mission to promote investment, business communication and cooperation between China and Silicon Valley and to help create jobs of all types.

The other keynote speakers included Madison Nguyen, Vice Mayor of the City of San Jose; Dong Jianlong, Counselor of the Chinese Consulate in San Francisco; Evan Low, Mayor of the City of Campbell; Jose Esteves, Mayor of the City of Milpitas; Gilbert Wong, Vice Mayor of the City of Cupertino; Sam Liccardo, Council Member of the City of San Jose; Kansen Chu, Council Member of the City of San Jose; Kim Walesh, Director of the San Jose City Office of Economic Development; Jim Reed, Vice President of the San Jose Silicon Valley Chamber of Commerce; Thomas Shoesmith of the Pillsbury Law Firm, and A.C. Green, entrepreneur and member of three NBA champion teams.

China Silicon Valley is working with both countries’ governments, businesses and entrepreneurs to drive increased investment and job growth by facilitating talent, technology and business exchange and investment between cities and businesses in China and their Silicon Valley counterparts.

“We are very excited about the prospect of partnering with the organization’s leadership to help bring jobs and growth to San Jose and Silicon Valley,” said Kim Walesh, Director of Economic Development for the City of San Jose.
