On July 19, 2024, the 6th China-U.S. Friendship Cities Conference, co-hosted by the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries and Sister Cities International, was held in Tacoma, Washington, USA. The theme of the forum was “Shared Vision, Better Future.” Attendees included Yang Wanming, President of the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries; Zhang Shuping, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Liaoning Provincial People’s Congress; Peng Lin, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Sichuan Provincial People’s Congress; Li Xingwang, Vice Chairman of the Shaanxi Provincial Political Consultative Conference; Zhang Jianmin, Consul General of China in San Francisco; Zhou Zheng, Minister-Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in the United States; Carlo Capua, Chairman of Sister Cities International; Huang Simin, Director of the California Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development; Victoria Woodards, Mayor of Tacoma, Washington; David Haubert, County Supervisor of Alameda County, California; and over 300 leaders from 14 provinces and regions in China and 21 states in the U.S. The Chinese Ambassador to the U.S., Xie Feng, sent a video message to the conference. U.S. Congressman Derek Kilmer and U.S. Ambassador to China Nicholas Burns each sent congratulatory letters to the conference.
