Mayor Rick Kowalczyk was first elected California’s Half Moon Bay City Council in 2009, and is currently serving in his second term. He is responsible for key economic development initiatives that resulted the City’s robust financial recovery after previously facing potential bankruptcy. With the City now in a strong financial position, Rick architected a strategy to utilize the City’s financial health to finance the construction of a major new library with no new taxes to the community.
In conjunction with his role as Mayor, Rick also serves on a variety of important Boards that help further support the City of Half Moon Bay, including the Sea Crest School Board of Trustees, League of California Cities Finance Committee, Sewer Authority, Recycled Water Committee, and Latino Advisory Council.
Additionally, Rick is the Founder and Managing Partner of Medallurgy, LLC, a business consulting firm specializing in strategic planning and marketing, serving Fortune 500 enterprises and select start up companies. Rick earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Detroit, and a Masters of Business Administration (M.B.A.) from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College.
